BACK WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
At the young age of 11, Ethan Lee couldn't take his eyes off of a blacksmith demonstration at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. From that day forward his life was changed forever. Something about how a material so rigid at one temperature, and so elastic at another fascinated him. In the years following he apprenticed under several craftsmen including a blacksmith, gun builder, and a knife maker. Most of his time is spent perfecting the craft of knife making and leather working. As time moves forward, quality only seems to get better. Even today, from custom knives to holsters to ornamental ironwork, Ethan strives to look for ways to perfect his work, as he believes a person can never stop learning.
It is one thing whenever a person can make a knife; but it is another whenever a maker can truly understand what a knife has to be able to stand up to in the elements, and plan, design, and build according to it. ELEE Knives are designed for just that. Every step in the maker's process is essential to performance. Fit, finish and beauty are the extra mile. Lee has always had many hobbies which include: hunting, fishing, trapping, scuba diving, cooking and BBQ and most importantly; building knives. His career choices have further influenced his work. At a young age he began working with his father and older brother building timber frame homes. From there Lee worked in numerous areas of the manufacturing industry, was a sailor in the U.S. Navy submarine force, and the steel making industry. Every single job has played a part in his knife design and build.
In addition to knife making, ELEE Knives also manufactures custom leather knife sheaths and a variety of holsters (including for handguns), does some gunsmithing work, and does some swordsmithing from time to time.
